Our client, a leader in developing cutting-edge robotics and autonomous systems, is seeking a talented Middleware Developer with expertise in C++ and RTI Connext 6.1.2 to join their dynamic team. This is a contract role, with a hybrid schedule, in Arlington, VA.

As a Middleware Developer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the middleware software that underpins our robotics and autonomous systems, and making a direct impact on the performance, reliability, and intelligence of our systems. Contract Duration: 6 months

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Middleware Developer, with a strong background in C++ and RTI Connext 6.1.2.
  • Solid understanding of real-time and distributed systems, middleware architectures, and messaging protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in software development tools and version control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in the robotics and autonomous systems industry is highly desirable.
  • Passion for robotics and autonomous technology and a desire to contribute to groundbreaking projects.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Design and implement real-time middleware solutions using C++ and RTI Connext 6.1.2 to enable seamless data exchange and communication within robotics and autonomous systems.
  • Experience with Autonomy Architecture or other Interface Definition Language
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop and integrate middleware components into the software stack of our robotic platforms.
  • Optimize middleware performance to ensure low-latency and high-throughput data communication, essential for real-time decision-making in autonomous systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve middleware-related issues and ensure the robustness and fault tolerance of the communication layer.
  • Collaborate with system architects to define communication protocols and data models that support complex robotics operations and interactions.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in RTI Connext and other middleware technologies, and actively contribute to the enhancement of our middleware stack.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and testing processes to maintain high software quality standards.
