One of Massachusetts's critical agencies is looking for a Network Security Engineer. This entity is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the Commonwealth. They audit the financial statements of the Commonwealth, including state agencies, authorities, and other entities that receive state funds. Additionally, this company is responsible for conducting fraud investigations and reviews potential cases of waste and abuse in government spending. You would help play a critical role in ensuring that the financial affairs of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are managed appropriately and in the best interests of the citizens of the state.
As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for protecting our networks and systems from cyber threats and ensuring that our infrastructure complies with relevant regulations and industry standards. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about cyber security, has a strong attention to detail, and is able to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, maintain, and monitor firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and other network security tools to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems and data
- Implement and maintain cyber security frameworks, such as NIST and CIS, to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address potential security risks
- Collaborate with other IT teams to design and implement secure networks, systems, and applications
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, including conducting forensic analysis and remediation
- Communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders, both orally and in writing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in network security, firewalls, and servers
- Familiarity with cyber security tools and compliance frameworks, such as NIST and CIS
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python) is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- US Citizen or Greencard holder
- Must live in the Boston area
