Job Description

Our client in the Government-IT sector has an opening for a Senior Content Designer with relevant expertise who is looking for fresh, cutting-edge ways to connect with a broad spectrum of users that conduct business on the SOC website.

The Content Designer will have a big impact on how our digital environment develops since it improves user experience. The chosen applicant will plan and create effective digital communications for this position across a variety of touch points, such as websites and some printed materials. The candidate will manage the smallest details while offering high-level concepts. The Content Designer will coordinate many concurrent projects with stakeholders and web designers with the aim of making sure that information is simple to discover, content is acceptable for the online, and using the website is a pleasant and positive experience for the user. In this capacity, a transaction or a single piece of material that spans both online and offline may be created or modified.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Education: BA in English, Communications, or BA in a digital design related field Required Skills/Experience:
  • 3+ years’ experience in a digital design environment
  • 5+ years of experience as a professional content designer/strategist, content manager, author, or editor
  • Training, certification, and practice writing web content
  • Functional understanding of basic digital and web analytics
  • Search Engine Optimization experience to research key terms for titles, descriptions, body copy, cross links, etc.
  • Possess a perfect command of the English language (grammar, spelling and vocabulary) and a strong attention to detail
  • Can create and/or adhere to voice/tone/style content guidelines
  • Easily accept editorial feedback from stakeholders/peers and be great at incorporating it when possible, and is comfortable offering design feedback to team members when appropriate
  • Experienced in meeting accessibility guidelines for design and content
  • Demonstrated track record of using design thinking and design processes to iterate, improve, and validate work
  • Ability to work enthusiastically both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Desired Skills & Experience
  • The candidate must be able to translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs and engage in meaningful interactions and relationships with users.
  • The candidate must be able to develop content to meet user needs and rewrite complex language and processes to be easy to understand, as well as meet accessibility guidelines for comprehension.
  • The candidate must be able to assist with the development and implementation of a standard of editorial styles and rules that will ensure a consistent content voice and tone throughout website and digital messaging.
  • The candidate must be able to take an overall perspective on business issues, events, activities, and discuss the wider implications and long-term impact.
  • The candidate must know how to identify, analyze, manage, and monitor stakeholder relationships with and between stakeholders.

Google Analytics Submission Requirements:
  • A writing sample, ideally demonstrating your ability to explain a complex concept in plain language
  • Portfolio samples that demonstrate UX/product writing, not simply ad copy or web/marketing copywriting
