Our client is a leader in the field of ocean robotics. They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Robotics Software Engineer to join their dynamic team in Boston. As a Lead Robotics Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing our cutting-edge technologies for underwater robotics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Robotics Operating System (ROS) and a proven track record of leading software development projects.


  1. Lead and Mentorship: Provide technical leadership to a team of robotics software engineers. Mentor team members and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  2. ROS Development: Design, develop, and maintain software systems using the Robotics Operating System (ROS) for underwater robotic applications.

  3. Algorithm Development: Drive the development of algorithms for perception, navigation, and control of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in challenging marine environments.

  4. Integration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate software with hardware components, sensors, and communication systems.

  5. Testing and Validation: Develop and implement rigorous testing procedures to ensure the reliability and performance of robotics software. Conduct validation tests in simulated and real-world ocean environments.

  6. Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for software design, architecture, and implementation. Ensure that all code is well-documented and maintainable.

  7. Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest developments in robotics, automation, and ocean technology. Contribute to the company's innovation initiatives and research projects.


  1. Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.

  2. Proven experience (5 years) in software development for robotics, with a focus on underwater robotics.

  3. Expertise in ROS (Robotics Operating System) and related tools.

  4. Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, and/or Java.

  5. Experience leading and managing a team of software engineers.

  6. Solid understanding of algorithms for perception, localization, and control in robotic systems.

  7. Familiarity with marine environments and challenges associated with underwater robotics.

  8. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

  9. Publication record in relevant conferences or journals is a plus.
