Network Field Technician

Our client, a leading content delivery network services provider, is actively looking for a Network Field Technician to join their Network Infrastructure team in Billerica, MA! This team is responsible for building and maintaining the world’s largest distributed platforms that handles a significant portion of the world’s internet traffic.

***This is a 1 year initial contract with the opportunity to extend or convert***

This Network Field Technician will be responsible for performing server deployment and maintenance in their data centers located in Billerica, Somerville, and Cambridge. Deployment and maintenance consists of: installing servers and switches in racks, un-racking servers and racking replacements, Ethernet, fiber and power cable wiring, replacing disk drives and memory, and diagnosing simple hardware issues.

Responsibilities

• Remotely diagnose hardware problems, facilitate server repairs, and manage hardware assets
• Physical racking of equipment (rack prep, rack and stack, switches/routers, cameras)
• Run fiber, power, and Ethernet cabling
• Replace disk drives and memory
• Diagnose simple hardware issues
• Box/unbox equipment including breakdown/task
• Organize packages coming in/out of data center
• Conduct fiber work (scope, light meter, cleaning)

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience in a data center environment
• Ability to lift 50-70 pounds and the ability to unbox and move equipment
• Must have reliable transportation, this job requires movement between locations that may not have access to public transportation
• Must have a laptop, cell phone, driver’s license, and a basic set of hand tools
