Network Technician

$27/hr - $29.62/hr
Our client, a private Ivy League research university, is actively looking for a Network Technician to join their team in Cambridge! This person will need to work onsite so local candidates are required.
***This is a 2 year long initial contract with the opportunity for conversion***
This Network Technician will be responsible for the hands-on management and troubleshooting of a campus-wide data network including: switching configuration and support, wireless networking, network registration services, network & security event support, and Incident Management and notification processes for the University’s IT Network Services.
- Network Monitoring and first touch Incident Response during business hours
- Ticketing triage for the entirety of the Network Services organization
- Provide technical assistance to Network Operations, Network Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Systems teams
- Articulate technical matters to non-technical customers
- Participate in 24X7X365 on-call rotation as needed
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Network Support
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Hands-on experience with most of the following: OSI model layers 1-9, switching technologies, network analysis, 802.3/802.11X/TCP/IP, Cisco, link aggregation, Spanning Tree, Wireshark packet analysis, DNS, DHCP, and/or OSPFC
- Wireless experience (familiarity with configuring and maintaining enterprise-grade Wireless Access points)
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of IT support personnel
