Sr. Cloud Database Engineer

Job Description Our client is looking for an experienced Sr. Business Analyst who will be able to bring 8-10 years of experience in digital software development to the table.

Would you like to work for an ad-supported VOD network that supports 50 million monthly active users. The service contains a vast number of hours of content available across all its networks and provides monthly premiers of original programming.

Their Cloud Database Engineering team is currently a small but dedicated group with an inquisitiveness for data and unearthing it to help find insights that help move their business. Their team is highly collaborative, passionate about the media industry and consistently making directives towards continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• You will be designing and implementing a multi-terabyte Data Warehouse and Data Lake infrastructure in support of large scale Data Analytics and Data Science applications
• Optimize and tune Redshift cluster and queries
• Implement Redshift Workload Management (WML) to prioritize workloads and manage concurrency issues
• Providing timely support in response to performance issues
• Designing and Implementing the monitor/alert system for AWS Redshift cluster performance and uptime

• SQL Performance tuning and optimization
• Concurrency scaling and monitoring
• Data distribution monitoring and optimization
• Stored Procedures, Materialized view, User defined functions - Optimization & Tuning
• Workload management & queue management
• Disaster recovery design & implementation - snapshots & recovery points
• Large scale Data Warehouse & Data Lake workloads optimization based on Spark, Lambda Functions, S3, Glue
• Data Governance & Security
• Parameter Group Management
• Expert DBA skills using RDBMS and/or NoSQL platforms

Other Requirements

• Working knowledge of DevOps best practices: Advanced knowledge and experience in the development of Linux Shell scripting in combination with AWS SAM / AWS-CLI,AWS CloudFormation and/or Terraform templates for Deployment automation
• Advanced knowledge and experience in the Design and implementation of Data Warehouse, Data Lake - with Data Mesh as a plus
• Advanced knowledge and experience in maintenance of Metadata repositories such as AWS Glue Catalog, Glue crawler for data stored in: S3, AWS Redshift, AWS RDS for access thru Redshift Spectrum
