Job Description: As an Application Security Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of our software applications used in DoD systems. Your expertise in threat assessment, software engineering, offensive security tools and adversary techniques, and cyber range environments will be critical in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities. You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing secure coding practices and conducting thorough security assessments. This position requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive threat assessments and vulnerability analysis of software applications.
- Develop and implement secure coding practices and standards.
- Perform code reviews to identify security flaws and suggest remediation measures.
- Utilize offensive security tools and adversary techniques to simulate attacks and identify weaknesses.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to implement security controls during the development lifecycle.
- Conduct penetration testing and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend solutions.
- Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, tools, and techniques.
- Build and maintain cyber range environments for testing and training purposes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in application security or a similar role.
- Strong background in threat assessment, software engineering, and offensive security techniques.
- Familiarity with common security frameworks such as OWASP Top 10 and NIST.
- Experience with offensive security tools like Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Kali Linux.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices, common vulnerabilities, and best practices for mitigation.
- Familiarity with cyber range environments and hands-on experience with security testing methodologies.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or OSCP are highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
