This music focused startup needs a Lead Backend Engineer to join a team focused on architecting and developing the features to reliably scale their web and mobile applications. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity based in their Chicago office.
This company has the goal of making 1 on 1 instrument lessons available to everyone. As their Lead Backend Engineer, you’ll be responsible for server-side design and development while aggressively scaling the applications, adding new features, and updating legacy code as necessary. The ideal candidate would be comfortable in project design, testing, troubleshooting issues, and mentoring developers on the team. You’ll need to have experience with: Node.js (specifically Express or Hapi), Nest.js, AWS, and REST API development. The perfect candidate would have a demonstrated passion for the education space and musical instruments. Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience in with Node.js
- 4+ years of experience in AWS environments
- 3+ years of experience in API development
- B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working in a cross-functional, fast-paced startup environment
- 2+ years of experience in a lead level engineering role
- 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced startup environment
- Mentorship experience with junior developers
- Demonstrated passion for education and musical instruments
- Strong voice and opinions regarding the correct way to build software
