Job Description

One of the most progressive software companies in BC is looking to bring on a Director of Machine Learning to lead the Machine Learning team! This role is full-time and will be hybrid in North Vancouver.

We have developed the world’s most advanced ultrasound-based imaging technology used to image the inside of oil and gas wells. The tool uses a number of proprietary and patented technologies to go thousands of meters underground, bringing oil and gas operators incredibly high resolution 3D scans of their entire wells. We have already won numerous awards, including 1st prize in the 2014 NVBC competition for the top high-tech start-up in BC.

We are building the Machine Learning team, aiming to scale it from 2 to 5 people, with a goal of automating measurement and images. The team will start off focusing on research and finding the best models for the use case, then application heavy once the right models have been chosen. Thus, it is important that you have a solid ML background as well as experience productionizing ML models. Having a Computer Vision background would be a plus, but not necessarily required as we have a lot of in-house expertise.

What we really need is a hands-on leader that is comfortable running a smaller team. If you want to work in a cutting-edge industry while directly seeing the impact of your leadership, then this role might be for you!

Required Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience as a Team Lead, Staff, Principal, Manager, etc.
  • Strong ML background
  • Research and production experience
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Master’s or PhD with relevant research projects
What You Will Be Doing

You will receive the following benefits:

  • Highly competitive base salary
  • Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance
  • Up to two months of vacation

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the Canada on a full-time basis now and in the future.
