Tech Lead, Veterinary Telehealth

Location: Toronto, ON

My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tech Lead to join their veterinary telehealth company. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for leading projects, vetting requirements, executing deliverables, and coaching junior members of the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in application design, development, and testing, as well as experience leading engineering projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of software solutions using modern rapid application development frameworks (Laravel, Vue, React Native preferred)
• Drive project delivery, ensuring that all work is completed on-time and within budget
• Communicate progress, risks, and challenges to stakeholders, and recommend solutions to overcome roadblocks
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior members of the engineering team
• Participate in the development of software architecture, ensuring that all solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure
• Develop and execute automated unit, functional, and integration tests

Requirements:

• 8+ years of application design, development, and testing experience
• 3+ years of experience leading engineering projects
• Experience with API development (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC)
• Solid experience with relational and/or NoSQL database systems
• Understanding of cloud-based architectures (AWS preferred), and DevOps/SRE practices
• Well-experienced in developing and executing automated unit, functional, and integration tests
• Knowledge of source code control systems, especially Git
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
