A prominent mission-driven nonprofit with a heavy focus on tech innovation in the tech innovation is hiring a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to head up their dedicated team. They are deeply passionate about creating a powerful and versatile platform that offers comprehensive support systems and tools for victims of abuse. This dynamic and innovative organization focuses on victim services, public education, public policy, and consulting services. 

The ideal candidate for this role will be a Senior Leader who shares the organization's passion for their mission and the impactful services they provide. This person should have extensive experience managing engineering teams, budgets, and working closely with stakeholders. They will be responsible for developing a scalable platform that is easily accessible to the public, leveraging the latest and most advanced technologies. The engineering team primarily works with Java, Spring, Scala, React/Vue, REST, MySQL, and AWS. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a dedicated and talented group of professionals to develop innovative solutions that positively impact the lives of others.
  • Partner with the CEO, senior leadership team and key stakeholders in an effort to build software and bring in key funding
  • Oversees management of all existing and new technology innovations
  • Work closely with the team to design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software applications.
  • Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of the platform.
  • Take ownership of DevOps practices, focusing on continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical solutions and resolve any issues.

Requirements:

  • Senior Technology Leader, ideally VP or CTO level experience
  • DOD experience
  • Overseeing teams of software developers, devops engineers, testers, admins
  • Prior experience working in an OOP environment (the team uses Java)
  • Experience managing cloud based applications (working with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and Lambda)
  • Familiarity with messaging platforms like Twilio is beneficial.
  • Experience with Scala and big data technologies is a plus.
