Senior Python Engineer / Join an Innovative Fitness Startup / Full-Time

A forward-thinking start-up dedicated to preventive fitness solutions for adults over 50 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team. This role will center around developing the backend of the platform using Python. With a small engineering team, the right candidate will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact, working closely with developers and stakeholders to build and maintain the platform. This position is full-time and remote.

• 7+ years of Python experience (familiarity with Typing system)
• 5+ years with statically typed languages (e.g., Java, Go)
• Proven API development experience (FastAPI is a plus)
• Strong backend development principles and design patterns
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Independent and effective multi-tasking ability
• Experience with software profiling and optimization
• Unit, integration, and end-to-end testing expertise
• Knowledge of Trunk-Based Development and feature flags

Desired Skills & Experience

• AWS deployment experience
• Familiarity with computer vision or image/video processing

What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown

• Primarily working with Python and FastAPI
• Integration of computer vision and movement tracking algorithms

Daily Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend functionalities using Python and FastAPI
• Integrate computer vision algorithms
• Create secure and scalable API endpoints
• Conduct code reviews and follow best practices
• Collaborate with frontend developers and team members
• Write documentation for code functionalities
• Conduct unit testing and contribute to integrating testing
• Manage JIRA tickets and update progress reports
• Address security vulnerabilities
• Optimize app performance
• Participate in daily standup meetings
• Submit work to GitHub using Trunk-Based Development
