Power BI Developer

Fort Worth, TX company is seeking a Power BI Developer to join their team for a contract opportunity.

Leverage the latest technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment at this Fortune 500 transportation giant. Top technical resources are retained on long-term contract engagements. Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase better. 

Contract Duration: 7 Months

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years proven experience in developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
• Skill at designing and implementing data models within PowerBI to support complex reporting requirements and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Skill at optimizing backend processes and queries to improve data retrieval and report generation performance within PowerBI.
• Troubleshooting: Skill at identifying and resolving issues related to data retrieval, processing, and visualization within PowerBI reports, providing timely support to end-users as needed
• Skill at collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT professionals, to understand reporting requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Ability to document backend processes, data models, and system configurations to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure maintainability of PowerBI reporting solutions.
• Experience with SQL and data integration.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Familiarity/experience with Teradata database, Teradata Native Object Store, spark SQL is a plus.
• Additional BI Tool/Technology experience preferred – Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain the backend infrastructure to support PowerBI reporting solutions. This includes building data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehouses to ensure reliable and efficient data retrieval.
• Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources, including databases, APIs, and third-party platforms, into the backend infrastructure for PowerBI reporting.
• Security and Compliance: Implement security measures and data governance policies to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data within PowerBI reports.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable visualizations. You will also be responsible for integrating data from various sources, ensuring data accuracy, and optimizing performance.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand data visualization needs.
• Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize complex datasets.
• Implement best practices for data visualization and ensure that visualizations are intuitive, insightful, and easy to understand.
• Optimize Power BI reports for performance and efficiency.
• Work closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure data quality and consistency.
• Provide training and support to end users on how to use Power BI dashboards and reports effectively.
• Stay updated on the latest features and capabilities of Power BI and recommend improvements to existing processes and tools.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality solutions
