Senior Machine Learning Engineer / Fintech / Startup

Job Description:

Our client is a small fintech company whose goal is to empower individuals to achieve their optimal financial well-being. They provide members with comprehensive insights into their finances and offer a range of valuable services designed to save them both time and money,

They are currently expanding their usage of machine learning technology. Over the past two years, they have advanced models from initial stages to essential components of the company's operations - processing billions of transactions for millions of users, accurately predicting customer lifetime value in milliseconds, and establishing the necessary monitoring, tools, and infrastructure to support such operations. They are now seeking a Senior/Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for operating existing ML models while also expanding the impact of machine learning through the development of new ML products and tools to benefit users.

Responsiblities:

• Building resilient engineering systems that automate processes, self-heal, and alert when issues arise, fostering scalability and reliability in ML systems.
• Collaborating to increase the impact of ML across the company by synthesizing common patterns and establishing scalable architectures and tooling.
• Embracing the team's iterative approach, shipping products, observing their performance, learning from data, and iterating to deliver optimal solutions.
• Tackling challenging areas with significant potential downside, such as account balance predictions, automated money movement, and financial decision-making.

Requirements:

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing and operating ML models for consumer applications, including end-to-end system building.
• Practical expertise in scaling models for speed and data capacity within production environments.
• Proficiency in building pipelines for text extraction, enrichment, and classification.
• Familiarity with current ML tooling and a readiness to explore and evaluate new frameworks.
• Strong instincts for instrumenting ML models to ensure the delivery of high-quality predictions to our users.
• Preferred experience with financial data, time series predictions, and transformer models.
