POSITION SUMMARY


The IT Administrator is primarily responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the Tarboro, NC facility's computing resources, including servers, desktop/laptop computers, applications, printers/document scanners, and associated infrastructure to support these technologies. This is a cross-functional, regional role that not only supports the local site but is also responsible for the application of regional initiatives and projects at the local level, as well as some regional support responsibilities.


Core Functions
  • Manage servers, desktop/laptop computers, multifunction and single-function printers, special purpose appliances, and various peripheral devices in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
  • Manage server storage infrastructure and connectivity.
  • Assess risk and apply required patches, software/firmware updates to servers and desktop/laptop computers to address security and stability issues.
  • Work with vendor support as necessary to quickly resolve problems.
  • Manage Microsoft Group Policy creating and updating GPOs to effectively enforce IT security policies and streamline management functions.
  • Provide daily management of accounts, print queues, folder and file permissions.
  • Manage backups and the backup process, including restores, DR testing, and related functions.
  • Support core business applications.
  • Effectively manage internal IT projects and participate in other projects with IT components.
  • Create, conduct, or attend IT-based training sessions.
  • Create training material and provide training to end users as required.
  • Participate in a variety of audit tasks and duties for physical inventory as required.
  • Support computer room infrastructure (power, backup power, air conditioning, humidity control).
  • Help support networking infrastructure (switches, routers, firewall, wireless controllers, and access points).
  • Support manufacturing plant floor applications for data collection, traceability and ensure support availability when needed for critical plant-related events or downtime requires.
  • Support manufacturing plant floor hardware such as barcode printers, barcode scanners, and mobile computers.
  • Manage business communication systems including phone and video conferencing systems.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support local and regional initiatives as needed to meet business objectives.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum five years of experience in an IT systems administration and support role.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Operating Systems (both GUI and CLI) including Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2012 R2, Server 2016, Server 2019, Server 2022.
  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of Active Directory management.
  • Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  • In-depth understanding of networking services (DNS, DHCP, LDAP).
  • Proficient with networking hardware including layer 2/3 switches, hubs, print servers, wireless controllers, and access points.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 software suite.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases would be beneficial.
  • Experience with VoIP technologies.
  • Able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs as required to perform repairs on IT-related equipment.
  • Ability to physically inspect equipment in cramped or tight locations.
  • Required to carry a company cell phone and be on call during off-schedule work times.
  • Experience within the automotive or manufacturing sector would be an asset.
  • Experience collaborating with remote teams and team members is desired.
Qualifications, Education & Certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a college or university degree in IT preferred.
  • Industry recognized certifications, A+, Security+, Network+, CCNA, Microsoft, ITIL, VMware desired.
