Network Security Engineer

A national financial institution that has been in business since 1980 with over 740 branches across 17 states is looking to grow their team and bring on a Network Security Engineer on a full-time basis.

In this role you will be responsible for researching, implementing, and administering network security solutions. The company is ideally looking for a Network Security Engineer that can deploy and manage network equipment, firewalls (must be enterprise experience; Cisco Firepower preferred but Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Checkpoint apply as well), and intrusion systems. Familiarity with some of the advanced features of next generation firewalls such as IPS, URL Filtering and policy routing. You will need experience with Microsoft Office and Cisco platforms. Minimum of 3 years network or systems administration experience, Cisco Security or NGFW, NAC, or Load Balancing required. Financial Services or banking industry experience preferred.

This will be a full time direct hire position, their offices are located in The Woodlands, TX but you can sit in either location – The Woodlands, Austin, or Houston, TX as this is where their datacenters are located. Desired Skills & Experience
  • Deployment and management of Firewalls - Enterprise experience of Cisco Firepower preferred but Palo Alto, Fortinet, and/or Checkpoint experience applies.
  • Advanced features of next generation firewalls such as IPS, URL Filtering and policy routing
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Network/System Administration/Engineering
  • Financial Services or banking industry experience preferred.
  • Cisco Security or similar technologies (i.e., NGFW, NAC, load balancing), preferred.
  • Other beneficial experience (i.e., SIEM, VA, IPS, Cloud Security, Routing and Switching, Vulnerability Management, CASB, Python, or Automation/Orchestration), preferred.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Works closely with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, and outside vendors to research, design, test, evaluate, and select network solutions to secure and protect the infrastructure.
  • Deploys and manages network equipment, as well as firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Monitors networks and network security systems; tracks, manages, and alerts appropriate parties of vulnerabilities, attacks, and other security issues.
  • Recommends and implements policies and procedures to ensure adherence to security standards.
  • Assists with high level troubleshooting and issue resolution.
