Senior AWS Architect

This company is a leading technology company is in search of a highly skilled and seasoned Senior AWS Architect to join their team. As a Senior AWS Architect, you will be responsible for designing implementing, and overseeing scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based solutions on the AWS platform. You will collaborate closely with our cross-functional teams to grasp business requirements, develop architectural solutions, and provide technical guidance and expertise.

This company is located in the D.C. Metro Area, but will remain 100% remote.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Design and deploy sophisticated AWS cloud solutions with a focus on performance, availability, and security.
  • Establish, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters to ensure top-tier performance and resilience.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) methodologies using tools like Ansible and Terraform.
  • Design, manage, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployments.
  • Collaborate with development teams to seamlessly integrate microservices-based applications into AWS and Kubernetes environments.
  • Lead the monitoring, management, and troubleshooting of microservices to ensure optimal and reliable functionality.
  • Develop and implement robust monitoring and telemetry systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch to monitor application and infrastructure health.
  • Continuously analyze performance metrics and telemetry data to identify areas for optimization, ensuring peak application performance.
  • Guide best practices, strategies, and innovations in application deployment, infrastructure maintenance, microservices management, and performance telemetry.
  • Lead the transition of traditional applications to a microservices architecture.
  • Mentor junior architects to foster an environment of growth and continuous learning.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM.
  • 5+ years of in-depth experience with Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, particularly Ansible and Terraform.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Expertise in Git or equivalent source code management platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices development, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Advanced proficiency in monitoring and telemetry tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, and similar solutions.
  • Experience in performance telemetry, including metrics analysis, tracing, and logging to enhance system performance.
  • Deep understanding of container orchestration and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with data protection best practices, disaster recovery strategies, and failover mechanisms.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • AWS, Kubernetes, IaC, and performance monitoring certifications are advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
