Position Overview: We are seeking a talented CFD Application Engineer specializing in Aerodynamics to join our dynamic team in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fluid dynamics and a proven track record of applying CFD techniques to aerospace and automotive applications. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting our clients' projects, optimizing vehicle design and performance through advanced CFD simulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques to simulate and analyze aerodynamic performance for aerospace and automotive applications.
  2. Collaborate closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored CFD solutions to address their specific challenges.
  3. Conduct hands-on CAD cleanup, manual meshing, and postprocessing automation to ensure accurate and efficient simulation workflows.
  4. Utilize a variety of CFD solvers, including ANSYS Fluent, Siemens StarCCM+, and other industry-standard software, to deliver high-quality results.
  5. Stay updated on the latest advancements in CFD technology and contribute to the continuous improvement of our simulation methodologies.
  6. Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to junior engineers and team members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in applying CFD techniques to aerospace and/or automotive applications.
  • Proficiency in using CFD solvers such as ANSYS Fluent, Siemens StarCCM+, and experience with other solvers is a plus (e.g., NASA FUN3D, NASA OVERFLOW, OpenFOAM).
  • Strong background in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics principles, with a focus on external aerodynamics and vehicle design/performance.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD cleanup, manual meshing, and postprocessing automation tools (e.g., ANSA, Pointwise, ParaView).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • US citizenship or legal US residency required.
  • Must be local to the Boston area and available for on-site work.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience in rotorcraft, eVTOL, or motorsports aerodynamics.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
  • Knowledge of additional CFD solvers and software packages, such as Metacomp CFD++, Tecplot, and HeldenMesh.
