Overview: Our client is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our fast-growing robotics startup. As a key member of their engineering team, you will lead the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems for innovative robotic products. This role requires a deep understanding of robotics principles, strong technical proficiency in mechanical design, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of robotics technology.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the mechanical design and development efforts for robotic systems from concept to production.
  2. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and product designers to integrate mechanical components into robotic platforms.
  3. Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and analyses to optimize mechanical designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  4. Prototype, test, and iterate on mechanical designs to validate functionality and performance under various conditions.
  5. Specify and source materials, components, and suppliers for manufacturing robotic systems.
  6. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements in all mechanical designs.
  7. Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
  8. Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to team growth and development.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  2. 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, preferably in robotics or automation.
  3. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex mechanical systems or products from concept to production.
  4. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) for 3D modeling and design.
  5. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools to optimize designs.
  6. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, etc.) and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  7. Familiarity with robotic kinematics, dynamics, and motion control concepts.
  8. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  9. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
