Network Systems Engineer IV

The company is located in Reston, VA and will be a hybrid model of 2 days on site a week.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Perform daily operational support functions, including problem isolation and resolution.
- Provide technical leadership in operational processes and change management.
- Collaborate with technical staff to implement high-quality, architecturally sound systems and software that meet business needs.
- Proactively gain a deep understanding of Verisign's applications and operational environments.
- Document processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans.
- Regularly report progress to management.
- Support and test Linux and VMware-based network tools and appliances, with a secondary focus on assisting and eventually leading network-based projects.
- Provide daily support for lab, non-production, and production infrastructure in compliance with standards.
- Serve as a liaison between architecture and operations teams, transforming high-level design artifacts into production-ready solutions.
- Research and integrate industry best practices in network and system orchestration and configuration management.
- Document processes, procedures, designs, and topology to satisfy project requirements.
- Collaborate with technical staff to implement systems and relevant network configurations.
- Apply an automation mindset in configuration management and test case automation for continuous improvement.
- Assist operations in deploying and troubleshooting production issues.
- Provide critical technical leadership in design development, technology best practices, and support in testing.
- Document work tasks and changes in tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and ServiceNow.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience administering systems in a production operations environment.
- Professional experience with Linux system administration in a production environment is highly preferred.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent Unix OS; RHCSA certification is preferred.
- Proficiency with Unix utilities and scripting (Perl, Python, shell, Golang) is required.
- Experience with a version control system like Git is required.
- Experience with automating production processes and procedures is desired.
- Experience documenting work tasks and changes in tools such as JIRA and ServiceNow is required.
- Exposure to OpenStack, Kubernetes, or other cloud technologies is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of network protocols, including IP, BGP, TCP/UDP, with a desire to increase knowledge and understanding of network device configurations.
- Experience with AAA systems is desired; experience with Cisco ISE is preferred.
- Experience with SNMP and SNMP Trap-based Network Management systems is desired.
- Experience with Micro Focus Network Automation (MFNA) is preferred.
