Audio Visual Manager
The candidate will direct and oversee the overall strategy and planning of audio-visual (AV) technology for building projects, meetings, and high-profile events for the organization. Oversees the Meetings/AV unit, including staff and budget. Directs the planning and execution of technical support for meetings, concerts, and high-profile events. Brings industry-level expertise to function and recommends changes to remain up-to-date or competitive. Oversees full scope of AV installations, projects, meetings/events management, including writing RFP’s, contract negotiations, marketing, and training.
The company is located in Washington D.C. and the candidate will need to come onsite 2-3 days a week.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Oversees all audio-visual (AV) operations, including meeting room AV technology, videoconferencing, and webcasts, ensuring that the operations are performing within specified operational guidelines. Develops and establishes internal departmental standards and procedures.
- Oversees organizing, coordination, scheduling, and prioritizing scheduling of rooms, event set-ups, and daily tasks to ensure work is completed satisfactorily.
- Manages and Supervises employees involved in AV technology throughout the organization. Determines staffing levels. Ensures AV support and services are effectively provided on a timely basis. Provides leadership and mentors employees. Trains and develops employees to successfully perform current responsibilities and encourages development of staff for future roles. Forms effective teams and cultivates a work environment that fosters teamwork. Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies. Initiates personnel actions, including performance and compensation reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Reviews and evaluates all work logs on a routine basis to ensure proper and timely recording of work activity; analyzes logs for trending of AV problems; prepares briefings. Reviews reports and statistical summaries of activities, delegates tasks to the appropriate personnel for problem resolution and repair.
- Establishes, documents, and maintains AV and Meetings policies and procedures. Interprets and ensures consistent application of organizational policies. Evaluates and reports current technology in all buildings for life expectancy, repair, and replacement.
- Meets with other Academies Facilities AV staff to review, recommend, and support AV Technology. Consults with programs and advises them of suggested upgrades to their equipment; ensures all facilities are compliant with AV industry standards for audio reinforcement, television and LED display systems.
- Consults with the Conference Management/AV Staff, ITS, COMM, HR, EO, ONPI, Event Operations, and with Academies staff to resolve problems and assists in their areas of need. Forms effective teams and cultivates a work environment that fosters teamwork.
- Participates in budget planning for AV and technology needs. Coordinates bid and selection process. Places orders and follows-up on transactions.
- Coordinates vendor and contractor relations and manages contracted labor. Provides direction and information to visiting technicians regarding the building infrastructure. Provides technical information and direction to the Press for high-level events.
- May have oversite for other information technology and telecommunication areas.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Eight years of related professional experience, three of which were in a supervisory capacity. Preferred experience in:
- Audio DSP (BiAMP)
- Video (Extron & Crestron)
- Managing Live Events
- Project Management with Audio Visual (AV) Systems
- Management, Operation, Maintenance of AV Systems in Multiuse Facilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent knowledge.
