Senior Cloud Engineer

The Senior Cloud Engineer discerns and furnishes system implementation requisites for network engineering and security engineering relevant to the core systems platforms of the firm. This is done to guarantee that the design and execution align with the firm's requirements for stability, functionality, and availability, while also adhering to the ISO 27001 audit requirements of the firm. Reporting directly to the Manager of Infrastructure Services, the Senior Cloud Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance and compliance of the firm's systems.

The company is located in the D.C. Metro Area and will remain 100% remote.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Defining the strategy for hybrid cloud implementation, encompassing the integration of compute, storage infrastructure, and collaboration with the firm's global data center collocation sites.
• Evaluating existing systems to identify enhancements ensuring adequate capacity, scalability, and security aligned with the firm's requirements. Collaborating on the implementation and refinement of policies and procedures to maximize the availability of the firm's IT infrastructure across all offices.
• Providing recommendations for alternative technologies or improvements to strengthen information systems and support organizational goals based on the Engineer's IT expertise and systems analysis.
• Reviewing detailed plans for integrating cloud services into new systems architecture, ensuring seamless integration with existing platforms and future infrastructure.
• Ensuring system stability by identifying best practices and lessons learned post-integration of new systems.
• Ensuring infrastructure compliance with IT policies and procedures, encompassing change control management, systems maintenance, disaster recovery plans, business continuity procedures, and system documentation policies.
• Collaborating with Information Security and Compliance teams as needed to ensure compliance with ISO 27001 and other audit requirements requested by the firm's IT Information Security and Compliance team.
• Engaging with the Applications Manager, Network Engineering Manager, and Security Operations Manager to implement a global architecture and roadmap, enhancing the reliability, security, and performance of the firm's infrastructure systems and applications.
• Coordinating with other Directors, Managers, and engineers to ensure efficient project completion.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Profound knowledge of enterprise systems, network, security, and software administration in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services and hybrid cloud architecture.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem resolution, and analytical skills.
• Capability to handle complex troubleshooting tasks across infrastructure layers.
• Previous involvement with application development, security, risk, compliance, and business teams.
• Experience with VMware Infrastructure, vSphere, ESXi, NSX, and Virtual Center Site Recovery Manager.
• Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in core infrastructure, including Compute, Storage, Networking, Virtualization, and Active Directory services.
• Deep knowledge of Identity Access Management (IAM) concepts and platforms.
• Familiarity with storage systems such as Pure Flash Array, Pure Flash Blade, Nasuni.
• Experience with Cisco products, UCS, MDS, routing, and switching technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Server operating systems and Active Directory.
• Familiarity with Veeam Backup applications and other Data Protection products.
• Proficient in scripting and automation tools.
