Electrical Engineer – RF Systems Development

Boston, Massachusetts

Hybrid

Full Time

$120k - $150k

We’re an early-stage start-up on a mission to build cutting-edge technology solutions that support environmental sustainability and help combat climate change. Our team is focused on developing innovative sensing and communication systems that monitor, analyze, and improve natural resource usage, with real-world impact on conservation, disaster resilience, and environmental protection.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Electrical Engineer with a focus on Radio Frequency (RF) systems to help lead the development of our next-generation wireless communication and sensor platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and test RF circuits and systems for environmental monitoring and sustainable infrastructure applications.

  • Lead the end-to-end design process including schematic capture, PCB layout, and system integration.

  • Perform RF system simulations, impedance matching, filter design, and antenna selection/tuning.

  • Collaborate with firmware and mechanical teams to integrate RF systems into ruggedized field-ready products.

  • Evaluate and select components for low-power, long-range wireless communication (e.g., LoRa, LTE, Wi-Fi, UWB, or custom RF).

  • Support regulatory testing and certification processes (FCC, CE, etc.).

  • Conduct field tests and validate RF performance in real-world environmental conditions.

  • Help build out lab and test infrastructure for RF development and characterization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing RF systems and circuits.

  • Strong knowledge of analog and RF design principles, including matching networks, filters, and RF signal chains.

  • Proficiency with RF simulation tools (e.g., ADS, HFSS, CST) and test equipment (e.g., VNAs, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers).

  • Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCAD, or similar).

  • Understanding of wireless communication protocols and modulation schemes.

  • Passion for sustainable technologies and environmental impact.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing for low-power or remote sensing applications.

  • Background in IoT or wireless sensor networks.

  • Familiarity with environmental sensing technologies (e.g., weather, soil, water quality).

  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design considerations and mitigation techniques.

  • Start-up or early-stage company experience.
