A company based in the greater Boston area, specializing in developing cutting-edge devices that save lives and improve the quality of life for patients with cardiovascular conditions. They are looking for Senior Embedded Engineer to join their medical device development team. This role does require a hybrid commute 3 or 4 days a week to the northern Boston area.

As a Senior Embedded Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development of next-generation cardiac medical devices. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing embedded software solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and reliability. This role requires strong expertise in C and C++, as well as experience working in the medical device industry. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and regulatory experts.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development, with a focus on C and C++ programming.
  • Experience in the medical device industry, particularly in the development of Class II or Class III devices.

  • Strong knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and low-level hardware interfacing.

  • Familiarity with medical device standards such as IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and FDA regulations.

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development tools (e.g., JIRA, Jenkins).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present technical information.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with cardiac medical devices or other implantable medical devices.

  • Knowledge of wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) used in medical devices.

  • Experience with signal processing algorithms for cardiac monitoring or therapeutic devices.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices as they relate to embedded medical devices.

  • Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced development environment.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for testing and automation.
