Systems Engineer - Cybersecurity

Our Carrollton, Texas based client has 2 openings for mid-level System Engineers with strong understanding and hands-on experience within the Cybersecurity sector, mitigating controls, and Patch Management with focus on Operational Technology (OT) to drive the execution of project based design/build efforts. This opportunity is slated to be a 6 month contract-to-hire and will work a hybrid schedule.

The positions will require 25% traveling (to nuclear power plant sites between Arizona / Baton Rouge, LA / Mississippi / Little Rock, AR / Toronto). This will be light travel in the beginning and main traveling when the project is 2/3 complete through end of project to help the customer with installing operating systems (get them up and running with computer systems, servers, and workstations, etc.) or system engineering work pertaining to the cybersecurity work of what they do.

 

Job Summary:

The position requires a hands on, daily interaction with a growing team of intermediate to experienced engineers delivering COTS solutions to nuclear and other complex and critical infrastructures. The individual will work primarily with the Secure Integrated Solutions (SIS) Division product managers, program managers, and engineering leads across multiple levels and disciplines.

 

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline or 4 to 8 years’ experience.
• Requires US citizenship or permanent residence (Green Card) only
• Experience in CIS Benchmarks (preferred) or NIST OR STIGS.
• Strong background in Windows OS, software application installation, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding and setting up anti-virus, etc.
• Familiarity and hands-on experience with SIEM / Log correlation / Log viewing
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Good presentation skills with the ability to present to a variety of audiences.
• Knowledge of engineering methodologies.

 

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience in project-based work with requirements driven deliverables.
• Networking protocols and small to mid-sized network design.
• VMware vSphere clusters.
• CISSP or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of NEI 08-09 and CIS based requirements.
• Requirements based analysis and mapping, design, build using a Standard V-Model approach to Systems Engineering.

 

What You Will Be Doing

• Continuously improve the performance, agility, and innovation in the project through the consistent execution and improvement of process or procedures
• Work with Windows Workstations and servers, virtualization, storage systems, Linux and security appliances network switches, firewalls, etc. in an Active Directory environment to standup, configure, and deliver small (20-30 server/workstations) environments.
• Perform server and network deployment and management through the entire product delivery lifecycle while working with the Software and Hardware Engineering teams to prioritize deliverables and validate product feature sets.
• Applies an analytical and detail-oriented approach with problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve and document issues.
• Perform vulnerability analysis, documentation and patching of windows devices, appliances, network devices, and COTS applications to support system wide vulnerability management.
• Changes/Updates to Server Configurations maintaining a high level of Configuration Management.
• Identify objectives, perform execution, and follow programs and processes to ensure work is accomplished in accordance with budget and design requirements.
• Perform system hardening.
• Engagement in cybersecurity and engineering solutions, practices, and delivery processes.
• Execute COTS solution integrations through collaboration with cross-discipline engineering teams, including software, hardware, test, and systems engineers.
• Collaborate with peers for knowledge management, information sharing, and consistency of engineering processes and solutions across the organization.
• Execution of tasks on active projects and communication of task related status and challenges.
• Contribute to the development of engineering cost estimates based on project requirements.
