Data Center Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Center Engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience to join our dynamic team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting our data center infrastructure, including racking and stacking, OEM storage systems, and OEM servers. This position requires a solid understanding of data center operations, hardware installation, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Racking and Stacking: Install and configure servers, networking equipment, and storage devices in data center racks while maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • OEM Storage and Servers: Set up, configure, and maintain OEM storage solutions and server hardware to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostic tests on hardware and systems to identify and resolve issues quickly, minimizing downtime.
  • Hardware Installation & Maintenance: Perform hardware installations, upgrades, and routine maintenance on servers, storage devices, and other equipment as needed.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor the performance of data center equipment and infrastructure, identifying any issues that may impact uptime.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, technical teams, and stakeholders to ensure data center projects are completed efficiently and in line with company objectives.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all data center hardware installations, configurations, and service requests.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure compliance with data center policies, standards, and best practices for hardware management and safety.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a data center environment, with hands-on expertise in racking and stacking servers and storage devices.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Familiarity with OEM storage systems and servers.
    • Experience with hardware installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
    • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and server configurations.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to think critically to resolve hardware and system issues efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures and noise levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with enterprise-level storage systems and servers.
  • Certifications related to server hardware or data center management (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Cisco, or other OEM certifications).
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and monitoring software.
