We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Director of Cloud Engineering to join our team at a leading options trading firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services and a deep technical skillset, particularly with AWS, Kafka, Terraform, and Kubernetes. In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, driving cloud strategy, architecture, and implementation while maintaining a hands-on approach with the technology.

In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, driving cloud strategy, architecture, and implementation while maintaining a hands-on approach with the technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, guiding the team in designing, building, and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Maintain a hands-on approach, particularly with Kafka, AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes, to support architecture and operational tasks.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align cloud initiatives with business needs, focusing on optimizing systems for high-performance financial trading.
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions that ensure availability, scalability, and security.
- Drive cloud strategy, architecture, and migration initiatives, ensuring best practices in cloud infrastructure management and automation.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team, driving new technologies and methodologies.
- Oversee cloud cost management and optimization.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and financial regulations, particularly around cloud security and data governance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a focus on AWS (including architecture, deployment, and management).
- 5+ years of management experience, leading cloud engineering teams.
- Proven experience in the financial services industry, preferably within trading or options.
- Expertise in AWS services, Kafka, Terraform, and Kubernetes, with the ability to be hands-on in these technologies.
- AWS certification (Associate or Professional level) is required.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
