Our leading chemical and plastics manufacturing client is looking for a Hays US Environmental Specialist for a contract at their Edison, New Jersey location.
This is a 100% onsite role
This position is responsible for HSE data collections and processing.
Contract Duration: 6-Months

Daily Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Strong working knowledge of regulatory process.
Must be able to understand and adhere to strict environmental, health, safety, security and quality policies.
Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices and procedures. Strong communication skills.
Ability to solve problems and make decisions. Ability to demonstrate planning and organizational talent.
Capability to be self-motivated and able to work individually.
Willing to work outside, year round under various weather conditions.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write medium level difficulty correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Email. Knowledge and experience with Access and SAP a plus.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Required Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent with some college.
- 1-4 years experience in health, safety and/or environmental.

1. Experience with NJ Environmental Regs (esp. large quantity generator)
2. Technical proficiency in reading P&IDs and understanding environmental data.
3. Analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze environmental data and assess impact and implement recommendations.

- Perform basic data collection and processing, maintains HSE LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) records to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
- Applies a working knowledge of pertinent HSE LDAR regulations, practices, procedures and programs.
- Trains employees on safety policies, procedures and LDAR regulations.
- Participates in OSHA inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
- Completes projects in a timely manner.

Shift : 7:30 AM-4:30 PM
