Our client is a Medical Device company located in Irvine CA. They are urgently seeing a Sr./Principal Electrical Engineer with exposure to ARM, Analog, CAD, RTOS, and Device control experience.

This engineer will be responsible for the design and development of products for ophthalmology surgical devices.

This position will be a Hybrid onsite opportunity. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop medical device components, sub assemblies and systems as well as associated test and fabrication fixtures
  • Create clear product requirements to translate into designs. Leads design reviews
  • Identify and mitigate design and product risks
  • Define test methods and conduct testing of complex electrical systems
  • Lead product development activities such as prototyping/testing, pilot builds, verification & validation activities, and risk assessment
  • Interface with internal and external suppliers, manufacturers, and customers
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations both internally and externally
  • Work collaboratively with project teams (ie ME, SW, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Quality) at all stages of development
  • Ensure regulatory, statutory, and, legislative compliance
Qualification

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Experience in developing architectures based on ARM processors, Xilinx FPGAs i.e., Artix-7, Zynq, Ultrascale, MPSoCs
  • Proficient in Xilinx Vivado, Vitis, SDK, HLS, Verilog, VHDL.
  • Experience with ARM development Studio and C/C++ toolchain for ARM-based SoCs.
  • Experience in analog circuit design involving high speed ADC, DAC, op-amps, high current BLDC driver and Full and Half bridge drivers, 50+KHz Class D power amplifier, switching regulators, etc.
  • Mixed signal design experience
  • Experience designing medical products for compliance to Safety, EMC and wireless specifications.
  • High level of proficiency in CAD i.e., Allegro, Orcad for electrical design.
  • Full understanding of Design Control
  • Knowledge of ISO, regulatory and legislative standards applicable to the development of medical devices
  • Effectively utilize problem solving skills and techniques to identify potential issues, assess their impact, and develop and implement mitigation and resolution plans and activities
  • Proven ability to lead design teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of associates, management and external partners
Minimum Required Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
  • 10 Years of Medical Device Experience
  • Fluent English
Physical Requirements
  • Expected travel is 20-25%
