Our client is one of the largest medical device companies within the US that focuses on building devices and applications for vision and eyes. They have locations around the world and are looking for a Medical Reliability device engineer to help test medical equipment in the labs. this position will be within the R&D group and working the latest and greatest advanced devices used for surgery.
The is position is 4 days a week on-site in South Orange county CA and must have the ability to be there almost every day. This is a 1 year+ contract-to-hire position.

Position Summary:
- Implements/enhances state-of-the-art quality and reliability systems/programs to support R&D objectives relating to instruments.
- Reviews/critiques product designs, proposed processes, and testing regimens ensuring a rigorous focus on reliability, quality, and compliance throughout NPI.
- Collaborates with NPI teams in identifying and executing key pre-verification characterization testing and other activities necessary for continuous product improvement and robustness enhancement.
- Plans/develops/executes automated test scripts, Labview programs, robotic programs, HALT, ALT, environmental, transportation, life testing, PCBA stress screening, engineering tests and/or V&V to ensure timely and efficacious completion of R&D development projects within budgetary and resource constraints.
- Ensures timely completion of testing with continuous feedback to development team for ongoing design enhancements.
- Uses analytical skills in statistical analysis, tolerancing/simulation, measurement science, stress testing, reliability assessment, simulation, and design critique as appropriate to support NPI DfR objectives.
- Works with technical transfer functions to ensure timely corrective actions of design, assembly, supplier, or other production issues encountered during NPI.
- Works with project teams to produce DHF reports, verifications and validations are compliant, documented, and grounded in solid science.
- ?4 yrs with BS Degree or two years with a MS Degree.
- Must include at least 2+ yrs in R&D with primary focus on new product reliability and quality engineering activities.
- Proven experience in the application of reliability engineering, including:
- Some familiarity required in applying basic statistical methods.
- Must be familiar with GMP/QSR regulations. (Nice to Have)
- Some knowledge with embedded systems, communication protocols for CAN bus and ethernet.
- Practical experience in test automation and programming SW such as LabView, Python and R.
- Some experience required in fixturing, lab testing methods and/or equipment validation.
- Proven strong learning agility required.
- 1-2 years of experience in executing process/product validation, transfer of products from R&D into manufacturing, and working on multidisciplinary teams that include all functions in the manufacturing environment. (Nice to Have)
- Proven knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or optical design principles.
- BSc. in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical)
- MS and ASQ Certifications in Quality Engineering and Reliability Engineering strongly preferred.
- Fluent in English, proficient in preparing detailed technical reports and interim presentations of results.
- 55-70/hr W2
