Our Department of Defense (DOD) client in Moorestown, New Jersey, is seeking a motivated Senior System Administrator to join their innovative and industry-leading team. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical projects, document outcomes, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Perform hands-on management of Linux servers and desktops.
- Address escalated support tickets, resolving issues related to software, hardware, and networking.
- Maintain and update Linux systems, including software installations.
- Configure IT hardware, services, directories, and storage in alignment with project and organizational standards.
- Apply security patches as needed, at least monthly.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system installations, configurations, and issue resolutions.
- Manage multiple tasks while adjusting priorities to meet customer demands.
- Provide proactive guidance to management on technology strategies, process enhancements, and implementations.
- Monitor the performance and health of lab environments, assist users, and enforce IT policies.
- Create operational procedures for lab support, identifying opportunities for process optimization, tool enhancement, and automation.
- Contribute to the vision and strategy for non-production environments and support their implementation.
- Install and configure AFMS products in lab environments (both on-premises and cloud-based) and at customer locations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with different server types (web, file, license, application, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, PERL, etc.).
- Experience with RHEL-based Linux distributions.
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible preferred, Terraform is a plus).
- Knowledge of VMware vCenter and vSphere v6.5 or newer.
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
- Understanding of networking and TCP/IP protocols.
- Knowledge of patch management processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact tactfully with users.
- Self-motivated with a quick learning ability for new IT technologies.
