PR Specialist
Client Location: Hybrid – New York, NY (should be able to attend events as needed in NY)
Employment: Long-Term Contract (1+ year) Engagement
Hourly Rate: $39/Hr W2
Our client is actively seeking a PR super star who is passionate about the intersection of entertainment, technology, pop culture, and brand storytelling to join the newly formed America’s PR team. In this role, they will support the team’s charter to advance client-led storytelling and mission to raise the company’s profile as a leader in immersive entertainment experiences within the Americas market.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives with ambiguity. Excellent writing and communications skills are a must and an understanding of PR principles like media relations, coverage monitoring, drafting briefing books, writing press releases, and creating media lists should be second nature. The ideal candidate should also have their pulse on the latest social media trends and pop culture moments transforming entertainment and technology.

Media Relations
- Brainstorm pitch ideas, thought leadership stories, PR stunts, and other proactive client-driven story opportunities.
- Identify reporters to educate and engage.
- Pitch company announcements and proactive story ideas to reporters.
- Manage master media list and support team with pulling media lists for launches/announcements, campaigns, events, and tradeshows.
- Staff press demos, premieres, screenings, and media briefings as needed.
- Respond to media inquiries.
Creative Writing
- Draft compelling communication materials like press releases, blogs, pitches, bylines, and keynote scripts.
- Draft briefing books for spokesperson interviews.
Coverage monitoring
- Own press coverage monitoring of key client, partner, and industry stories across all business categories, including Daily Monitoring Report sent to senior executives each morning.
- Monitor real-time newsjacking moments to insert client into pop culture and industry news cycles that drive brand conversation forward.
- Compile, analyze, and draft coverage recaps.
- Stay on top of cultural, news/media, industry, market, and consumer trends.
Other tasks:
- Manage client's newsroom and ensure media kits are regularly updated.
- Manage press release pipeline to track upcoming company and partner announcements.
- Draft marketing/sales decks and help pull press quotes for sales enablement efforts.
- Support various ad hoc research projects as needed.

- Ability to synthesize and simplify concepts and turn them into compelling stories.
- You have a pulse on the media landscape, pop culture, and other trends.
- Affinity for entertainment (i.e., music, gaming, movies/streaming, sports, etc.), consumer technology, and pop culture.
- Bonus points if you have experience working with major tech or entertainment brands.
Experience:
- 3-5+ years professional experience in communications, PR, or journalism.
- Experience in tech, consumer electronics, and/or entertainment PR or journalism ideal.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Extensive experience drafting press releases and blog, briefing books, pitches, and other communication materials.
- Understanding of media relations and experience pulling media lists/pitching news.
- Media analysis and coverage monitoring experience a must.
- Competency leveraging PR tools such as Cision, PR.co, Muckrack.
- Mix of in-house and agency or journalism experience preferred.
REQUIRED:
- Local Candidates to New York, NY only or close enough to commute to a New York event if needed.
- Mix of in-house and/or agency experience, preferred if same industry sectors as client (media, entertainment, music, consumer tech, not specifically tech companies)
