We are helping a company headquartered in the greater Chicago area hire a Senior Information Security Engineer. This position offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment within a well-established organization. This role offers a hybrid work model, requiring four days on-site with the flexibility to work remotely on Wednesdays.
The Information Security Engineer is tasked with designing and deploying secure solutions for networks, cloud environments, platforms, and applications. This role also involves conducting threat assessments across applications, hosts, and networks to identify, assess, and address security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities. The Information Security Engineer will collaborate with teams across the organization to create action plans for mitigating identified vulnerabilities and fostering a strong culture of information security.

The Information Security Engineer is tasked with designing and deploying secure solutions for networks, cloud environments, platforms, and applications. The Information Security Engineer will collaborate with teams across the organization to create action plans for mitigating identified vulnerabilities and fostering a strong culture of information security.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in three or more security areas, including security operations, cybersecurity engineering, endpoint protection, governance, risk and compliance, or identity management.
- Strong expertise in designing and managing firewalls (such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet), load balancers (f5, HAProxy), and web application firewalls.
- Extensive experience with cloud network security, including platforms like Azure, OCI, and AWS.
- Experience in conducting application security audits and implementing automation processes.
- Skilled in security log monitoring and incident response procedures.
- Experience in creating detailed network security diagrams and documentation.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, PowerShell, and bash, as well as API scripting.
- Familiarity with security tools such as vulnerability scanners, nmap, tcpdump, and Wireshark.
- Experience working with Windows, MacOS, Linux operating systems, virtualization, containers, and cloud environments.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, CISSP, OSCP, or similar credentials are preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Over 7 years of hands-on experience with enterprise-level Information Security technologies.
