This is an exciting opportunity for a Backend Engineer to join a fast-growing startup in San Francisco, focused on solving one of the most pressing challenges in cybersecurity: human error. The company is leveraging AI to create personalized security briefings to prevent cyber attacks by transforming employee behavior. As a backend engineer, you'll be building and owning foundational systems to support APIs, customer integrations, data services, and video generation infrastructure. You'll design and develop reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend services while working closely with product teams to deliver impactful solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience building backend systems for web applications or APIs in Python
  • Experience designing, implementing, and owning production-facing systems
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., Django or similar frameworks)
  • Experience with distributed systems, cloud services (AWS, Terraform, EKS), and building scalable infrastructure

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience building and integrating with external APIs
  • Experience with ETL, data pipelines, or cloud infrastructure is a plus
  • Strong interest in being part of an early-stage company and shaping foundational systems
