Established client in the education space is seeking an experienced Backup Administrator for a long-term contract opportunity. This position will be 100% onsite.

Required Skills & Experience
- Five years experience managing, designing, and/or implementing disaster recovery and business continuity procedures required.
- Experience with both physical and virtual tape/disk drives, library backup, and restore technologies; ability to work well and communicate with others in an effective manner, both written and oral; ability to analyze and solve problems; ability to translate technical needs and problems into creative solutions; strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to work well with peers and customers; ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
- Conduct performance tuning for enterprise backup solutions.
- Manage the daily backup tasks for distributed systems, including monitoring all platforms for missed/failed backups.
- Manage capacity and availability of tape, disc, and other storage media for backups.
- Investigate hardware/software errors related to backups and coordinate the repair process.
- Open and track the status of issues opened via internal and external incident reports as necessary.
- Analyze historical trend data to assist in forecasting the need for configuration changes/upgrades.
- Audit all aspects of data backups to ensure the integrity of the backup environment.
- Evaluate overall backup system performance and report metrics to leadership.
- Assist in specifying and meeting system disaster recovery requirements.
- Assist in designing system processes and procedures for backup of enterprise systems.
- Utilize specialized backup software to develop and maintain an enterprise backup system effectively utilizing the features integrated into the software/hardware.
- Manage the scheduling and monitoring of all backup jobs.
- Document all job schedules and prepare drafts for submission to the department technical writer for publication.
- Ensure the integrity of backups by managing a schedule of rotating restores of all backup jobs.
