Financial Services company North of Houston in The Woodlands, TX is seeking a DevOps Quality Assurance Engineer II to join their team. Position will be a direct-hire opportunity. 

This position places heavy emphasis on software testing and quality assurance within the financial/payments domain.

Environment: This role will eventually be hybrid but will need to start on-site before transitioning to a hybrid schedule. Client has a very flexible schedule, which all depends on the person and their skillset/performance in the beginning 

The DevOps QA Engineer II will work with members of the applications development, product management, and QA resources within an agile environment, to ensure delivery of high-quality banking applications. This person will work closely with the entire QA team and provide guidance to more junior members.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
  • 6+ years in software testing required.
  • MUST HAVE -
    • Knowledge of Payment Systems or Debit Card transaction applications required.
    • Extensive User Interface testing experience required.
  • Experience with API level testing preferred.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Basic knowledge of quality assurance and testing best practices.

  • Familiar with all phases of the software development lifecycle: requirements, design, development, quality assurance, deployment and operations.

  • Experience working with cross functional teams to quickly solve problems using Lean and/or agile methodologies.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills coupled with initiative and accountability.

  • Ability to perform research when anomalies are encountered.

  • Knowledge of Payment Systems or Debit Card transaction applications.

  • Solid analytical skills with strong attention to detail and concern for data accuracy.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional verbal communication and technical writing skills with an ability to effectively interact with and convey information to people who possess varying levels of understanding on applicable topics.

  • Strong SQL query writing, understanding of relational databases.

  • Motivated self-starter, and eager to learn.

  • Understanding of software testing, change and release management, with the desire and aptitude for identifying and escalating areas identified for process improvement.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years in software testing required.
  • Knowledge of Payment Systems or Debit Card transaction applications required.
  • Experience with API level testing preferred.
  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering or other technology related fields, preferred.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Effectively communicate, issues, risks and dependencies with product teams, escalating where appropriate.
  • Tests software for cross functional product teams as appropriate.
  • Plans, conducts and document tests on products, systems, components and processes as determined within the product teams sprint planning.
  • Perform, unit, functional, and regression testing on all software sprints and releases, ensuring that each software sprint and release successfully pass the test plan developed for each sprint and release prior to commencement of user acceptance testing.
  • Follow software development/testing methodologies (such as agile/scrum) and maintain software development/testing standards and procedures.
  • Actively participate in agile sprint planning and scrum teams.
  • Work with the product team to understand features, technical implementation, and collect necessary information to assure test coverage, and provide feedback on quality issues.
  • Develop automation test scripts using available toolsets.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $95,000
