Hybrid Staffing Model Pays Off for Des Moines Financial Services Firm


Having acquired a very large Institutional Retirement & Trust (IRT) business in 2019, a Des Moines-based global financial services company needed to ensure it stayed on track for complete integration of people, processes and technology by 2021, despite challenges posed by COVID-19 and related market disruption. Success of the integration work was dependent on acquiring a combination of high-quality IT and professional contract talent to perform the work.


To sharpen its focus, the client conducted an RFP, narrowing its approved staffing vendors from 24 first-tier vendors down to eight, including Motion.

The client chose Motion for its ability to combine local market knowledge (having worked with other local financial services companies) with a scalable offshore/onshore delivery model, recruiting IT and professional roles such as Java Developers, Software Engineers, Info Security, Help Desk, Marketing, Call Center, and Administration jobs.

Since Motion didn’t have a physical presence in Des Moines at the time, recruiting was provided through a hybrid model where a network of domestic recruiters leaned on an offshore recruiting partner for most of the heavy lifting.

Success was immediate. Within a year, Motion was chosen as one of the top vendors for placing call center resources, prompting a physical recruiting and account management office in Des Moines.

For Motion: Only 20 months into the relationship, more than 50 roles have been filled.
