$130k - $170k
Title: Finance Infrastructure Architect
Location: Fully Remote (EST-based)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
Restrictions: U.S. Citizenship required due to contract scope.
Overview:
Our client, a defense-focused cybersecurity firm, is seeking a Finance Infrastructure Architect to design and build an internal application that connects multiple financial systems and their APIs (timekeeping, payroll, ERP, project accounting) to produce compliant, audit-ready reports. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and government-contracting finance and is focused on architecting and implementing the integration layer and calculation engine that powers payroll, labor rates, project accounting, and compliance workflows. This is not a reporting or BI role; it requires someone who can independently design, build, and maintain production-grade services without mentorship. The ideal candidate comes from an accounting/finance background, has transitioned into engineering, and can handle core accounting tasks such as payroll validation, cash flow oversight, tax processing, and project cost allocation while building automation and applications around those processes.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Architect and implement an internal application that integrates data from payroll, timekeeping, ERP, and project systems via APIs.
-
Own and streamline core finance operations including payroll validation, cash flow, tax processing, and project cost allocation, and embed that logic into the system design.
-
Design and maintain custom processors and data pipelines in Python and SQL that pull, normalize, validate, and reconcile financial data from external vendors and internal tools.
-
Automate workflows tied to fully burdened labor rates (FBLR), CPFF structures, indirect rates, project allocation, and audit-ready expense reconciliation.
-
Ensure the integrated application and resulting reports are accurate, traceable, and compliant with DCAA and government-contracting standards.
-
Develop lightweight dashboards or reporting endpoints that consume the application’s data and support leadership decision-making.
-
Serve as the technical owner for finance infrastructure, working closely with engineering while operating independently with minimal oversight.
Required Skills & Experience:
-
5 to 10+ years in government-contracting finance, accounting, FP&A, or financial systems engineering.
-
Strong, hands-on development experience designing and building applications or services that integrate financial systems using Python, SQL, and API-driven connectors.
-
Proven ability to architect and maintain custom data pipelines between external financial vendors and internal systems, beyond simply configuring off-the-shelf tools.
-
Working knowledge of DCAA, CPFF, indirect rates, and fully burdened labor rate modeling strongly preferred.
-
Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment with minimal mentorship, owning both the financial logic and the technical implementation.
