Business Applications Engineer

The Business Applications Engineer designs, delivers, and supports enterprise applications that power core business operations and improve productivity for attorneys and staff, while enabling differentiated capabilities across the firm.

The position will remain 100% remote, preferred the candidate located in the D.C. Area.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Partner with the Business Applications Portfolio Manager to deliver the full lifecycle of firmwide business applications, from strategic planning and design through deployment, support, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Contribute to strategic roadmapping for the business applications portfolio, working closely with functional leaders, IT leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs, including application architecture, system specifications, data integrations, reporting, and conversion considerations.
  • Design, configure, develop, test, deploy, and support complex, multi-tier, object-oriented enterprise applications.
  • Build code and configurations aligned with approved technical designs, architectural standards, and best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on business application initiatives and projects.
  • Support and maintain mission-critical business systems as assigned.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical and operational documentation, including system diagrams, implementation plans, recovery procedures, and user documentation.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably within a large law firm, professional services environment, or legal technology provider.
  • Hands-on programming or scripting experience, such as Visual Basic, C#, .NET, PowerShell, or T-SQL.
  • Experience building and supporting integrations, including SSIS, stored procedures, ETL pipelines, or similar integration frameworks.
  • Proven experience supporting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, including the integrations that enable data exchange between systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise operating systems and databases, such as Windows Server 2019 and SQL Server.
  • Experience designing or contributing to the architecture of critical business systems, including Financial Accounting, Time & Expense, CRM, or HCM platforms.
  • Familiarity with service desk systems to manage and resolve incidents (e.g., ServiceNow).
