Cleared DevOps Engineer

As the DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in deploying and managing their application across multiple environments—including complex, air-gapped classified networks. You'll help shape our infrastructure from the ground up, contributing to CI/CD pipelines, refining Helm charts, and influencing our broader deployment strategy. As their first dedicated DevOps hire, you’ll have a unique opportunity to define how we ship software into sensitive and secure environments, tackling infrastructure challenges related to deploying LLMs and other large models with efficiency and reliability.

The candidate must have an Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance (minimum Secret).

The company is located in the D.C. Area and will remain 100% remote.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • System Architecture: Design systems that integrate multiple AI models, backend APIs, and a frontend web application.
  • Containerization: Write and optimize Dockerfiles for performance and security, ensuring images are lightweight and have minimal CVEs.
  • Kubernetes & Helm: Develop and maintain Helm charts to manage deployments across cloud and on-premises Kubernetes clusters.
  • CI/CD: Enhance GitHub Actions workflows to ensure reliable, low-friction deployment processes for code and dependencies.
  • Compliance & Accreditation: Make architectural and implementation decisions that support compliance with standards like FedRAMP.
  • Team & Culture: Help shape team strategy and company culture while taking on diverse technical challenges in a growing startup environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance (minimum Secret)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD tools
  • Familiarity with system design and architecture
  • Comfortable interfacing with end-users and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript (preferred)
  • Experience with LLMs—especially open-source models—is a plus
