Network Engineer II
The Networking Engineer II is responsible for designing, building, configuring, testing, deploying, and proactively supporting companies network hardware and interconnectivity infrastructure across both cloud and on-premises environments. They will operate with a high level of autonomy, offering guidance and recommendations to Administrators and Support Specialists on escalated support issues, deployments, configuration changes, and maintenance tasks. This role involves collaborating with others to plan, execute, and deliver projects, manage roadmaps, ensure security compliance, align systems with IT strategies, test and deploy code, conduct research, write technical reports, and achieve departmental and objectives.
The company is located in Alexandria, VA and will be a hybrid model of 2 days onsite a week.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Plan, design, implement, deploy, and support scalable networks, systems, and security frameworks.
- Collaborate with Engineers, Administrators, and Support Specialists to operate, secure, and monitor on-premises, cloud, and remote networks.
- Consult on diverse cross-functional networking projects and applications.
- Ensure information systems and assets are actively monitored to detect network events and validate the effectiveness of security measures.
- Coordinate response activities with internal teams and external partners (e.g., external service providers).
- Conduct activities to contain network incidents, mitigate their impact, and resolve issues effectively.
- Execute and maintain response processes and procedures to address detected network incidents.
- Identify, assess, and validate networking standards, technical requirements, gaps, and issues; communicate both proposed and tailored solutions to existing architectures.
- 5+ years’ experience working as a Network Engineer
- Extensive experience working in a Cisco environment
- Skilled in deploying, managing and troubleshooting Cisco, HPE and Fortinet switches, routers, firewalls and IDS/IPS
- Ability to design and implement high availability and redundant networks using F5s, QoS, CoS, NTP, HSRP, GLBP, LACP
- Expert knowledge and skill to configure and troubleshoot routing protocols (IGP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS), network services (IPv6, IPv4, DHCP, DNS, IPAM, SNMP, PAT, NAT), multi-casts and MPLS networks
- Create and document network / security policies and baseline
- Experience in media or education technology is a plus
- Scripting with Python or PowerShell
- Palo Alto & Juniper
- Experience with Darktrace
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Relevant certifications
