We are looking for a knowledgeable and committed Network Engineer to join our team in supporting both internal operations and government-sector clients. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing complex networks, with a strong focus on security and regulatory compliance. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performance network solutions.
The company is located in Manassas, VA and will be a hybrid model of 2 days onsite a week.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Design, configure, and deploy secure network infrastructures tailored to project needs and in compliance with government standards.
- Oversee the government approval process to ensure systems meet TrEd’s security and compliance requirements.
- Provide network and infrastructure support for a small, distributed user base.
- Assist development and service teams with connectivity, remote access, system logging, and cross-platform testing on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Support ongoing and special projects aimed at network innovation and functional improvements.
- Collaborate on firewall configurations (e.g., Ubiquity, Cisco) to optimize performance and maintain secure access controls.
- Conduct routine maintenance and upgrades for network hardware and software.
- Assess network vulnerabilities, think critically about potential security gaps, and lead remediation efforts.
- Configure complex network topologies and execute advanced routing between VLANs.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of LAN/WAN principles and secure network architecture.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and diagrams.
- Prepare and deliver weekly performance and compliance reports to stakeholders.
- Participate in regular infrastructure meetings to review project progress and align with upcoming initiatives.
- Partner with IT, security teams, and key stakeholders to develop integrated and scalable network solutions.
- Engage in planning sessions to align network strategies with broader project goals.
- Deliver technical support and training on network-related issues.
- Develop and lead training sessions to promote best practices in secure network usage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years in network engineering or a related technical role, preferably in secure or government environments.
- Minimum 2 years focused on threat identification and security countermeasures.
- Proven experience across the full network lifecycle: requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, testing, documentation, and ongoing support.
- Skilled in translating business and technical requirements into executable plans.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on security and performance.
- In-depth experience with VPNs, virtual networks, encrypted communications, and core LAN/WAN concepts.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving complex network and security issues.
