Technical Architect – Healthcare Platforms

Contract-to-Perm | 100% Remote

Our client is seeking a hands-on Technical Architect to provide architectural leadership and technical direction within a large-scale enterprise engineering organization. This role ensures solution development aligns with enterprise architecture strategy while supporting scalable, secure, and sustainable application delivery.

This is not a purely strategic architecture role. The ideal candidate will remain actively involved in development, including coding, prototyping, and guiding engineering teams through implementation.

The Technical Architect will collaborate closely with business and technology leadership, mentor development teams, and help drive architectural decisions across application, infrastructure, and data domains.

Responsibilities

• Translate business strategy and architectural vision into implementable technical solutions

• Provide hands-on architectural leadership across application, infrastructure, and data architecture

• Participate directly in coding, solution development, and technical prototyping

• Design scalable architectures for enterprise applications and distributed systems

• Guide architecture and technical design decisions across development teams

• Establish and maintain technical standards across applications and engineering teams

• Mentor developers and provide architectural guidance within Agile delivery environments

• Participate in Program Increment (PI) planning and Agile delivery cycles

• Evaluate new technologies and platforms for alignment with technology roadmaps

• Identify and mitigate architectural risks and technical trade-offs

• Collaborate with enterprise architecture groups to support governance and standards

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Java development experience (daily coding required)

• Experience designing and implementing enterprise application architectures

• Experience with both greenfield development and legacy system modernization

• Experience working within Agile development environments

• Experience with CI/CD practices and DevOps pipelines

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable architectural solutions

• Ability to balance long-term architecture strategy with near-term delivery needs

Core Technology Environment

Backend Technologies: Java, J2EE, Oracle

Frontend Technologies: Angular, React

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Strong Java-based architecture and development experience

• Full-stack architecture understanding

• Ability to design, prototype, and implement scalable solutions

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare claims or payer systems experience strongly preferred

• Microservices-based architectures

• Containerization and orchestration platforms

• Hybrid cloud or cloud-based environments

• Experience modernizing legacy enterprise systems

AI & Developer Productivity Tools

The engineering organization has adopted AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and development velocity. Candidates with experience using tools such as Microsoft Copilot or similar AI-assisted coding platforms will be viewed very positively.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
• Degrees from well-established engineering or technology universities are strongly valued.
