Job Description: Senior Elixir and Phoenix Developer

We are seeking a Senior Elixir and Phoenix Developer to join a mission-driven team focused on creating impactful solutions in the areas of food systems, healthcare, and the environment. In this hybrid role, you will work alongside a diverse group of experts in process optimization, data science, technology, and design to drive meaningful change using innovative technology solutions. Your contributions will play a critical role in optimizing processes, enhancing systems, and supporting data-driven decisions that contribute to the greater good.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain high-performance web applications using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Design, implement, and scale backend services and APIs that support our mission-driven projects.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate technology solutions that address complex social challenges.
• Contribute to the development of robust, reliable, and scalable systems that power our impactful initiatives.
• Continuously improve the quality of the codebase, ensuring clean, efficient, and well-documented solutions.
• Work on various system optimizations and contribute to infrastructure decisions for deploying applications in cloud environments.
• Assist in mentoring junior developers and share expertise with the team.
• Participate in the entire development lifecycle, from planning through to deployment and maintenance.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Elixir and Phoenix, with a proven track record of delivering scalable, high-performance applications.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database management, particularly with Postgres (a plus).
• A passion for working in mission-driven environments and contributing to positive societal change.
• Proficiency in agile methodologies and collaborative development practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as JavaScript and frameworks like React or Vue.js.
• Prior experience working on projects related to food systems, healthcare, or environmental sustainability.
• Knowledge of process optimization, supply chain, or data science principles.
