Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of cutting-edge robotics and mechatronic systems. This position plays a key role in driving innovation and ensuring the mechanical integrity and performance of their robotic products. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechatronic principles, strong technical expertise, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design and development of advanced robotics and mechatronics systems, including actuators, sensors, and structural components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate mechanical subsystems into cohesive robotics platforms.
- Oversee the creation of detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and specifications using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo).
- Perform advanced simulations and analyses, such as FEA for stress, thermal, and dynamic load assessments, to ensure the robustness and reliability of designs.
- Develop and refine prototypes, conducting rigorous testing to validate performance against specifications.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Drive design reviews, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and manufacturability.
- Interface with manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure smooth transitions from design to production.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in robotics and mechatronics to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a significant focus on robotics or mechatronics systems.
- Strong expertise in designing precision mechanical systems, actuators, and integrated mechatronic components.
- Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects from concept through production.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of embedded systems and control integration for mechatronic devices.
- Experience with sensor integration and feedback systems for robotics applications.
- Background in agile development methodologies and iterative design processes.
- Proven track record of contributing to patents, publications, or innovative projects in the field of robotics or mechatronics.
