Our client is pioneering robotics company dedicated to developing cutting-edge automation solutions. Their mission is to enhance operational efficiency through intelligent robotic systems, and they are seeking a talented Senior NPI Design Engineer to drive manufacturability, reliability, and scalability in our product designs.
As a Senior NPI Design Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring their robotic products are designed for excellence in manufacturability, assembly, reliability, testability, and cost-efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain, to optimize designs for high-volume production and seamless new product introductions (NPI). The ideal candidate has a strong background in robotics or complex electromechanical systems and a deep understanding of DfX principles.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Lead Design for Excellence (DfX) initiatives, including manufacturability (DfM), testability (DfT), reliability (DfR), and assembly (DfA).
-
Collaborate with hardware and mechanical engineers to optimize robotic system designs for cost-effective and scalable manufacturing.
-
Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) processes from prototype to full-scale production, ensuring smooth transitions and ramp-ups.
-
Conduct design reviews, failure mode analyses (DFMEA/PFMEA), and risk assessments to enhance product robustness and reliability.
-
Work closely with contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure design specifications align with production capabilities.
-
Define and implement best practices for manufacturing process development, test strategies, and quality control measures.
-
Provide hands-on support for prototype builds, validation testing, and troubleshooting design issues.
-
Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks by selecting and qualifying components for long-term availability.
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and manufacturing yield.
Qualifications & Skills:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
-
5+ years of experience in DfX, NPI, or manufacturing engineering, preferably in robotics, automation, or complex electromechanical systems.

Strong understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, testability, and reliability.
-
Experience working with contract manufacturers, PCB assembly, and mechanical fabrication processes.
-
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and reliability testing methodologies.
-
Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools and documentation processes.
-
Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and design validation.
-
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
-
Ability to travel occasionally for supplier visits and manufacturing support.
