Exciting contract Associate Accountant opportunity with an established firm. This is a hybrid role local to Camp Hill, PA, San Francisco, CA, or Oakland, CA.
The Associate Accountant is responsible for performing entry to mid-level accounting functions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and statutory requirements. In addition, this role will participate in monthly close activities and prepare internal and external reports.
The Unclaimed Property Specialist manages the end to end unclaimed property life cycle data intake, due diligence, compliance reporting, audit support, and claimant interactions to ensure adherence to multistate escheat laws and internal controls. This role collaborates closely with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Claims, and external stakeholders, and may support broader finance close activities.

Required Skills & Experience
- Familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Good organizational, time management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effectively engage and communicate across functions and levels in the organization
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, or equivalent, required.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Oracle Financial or ERP software experience preferred.
What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
- Prepares and posts routine journal entries.
- Performs account reconciliations and analyzes variances.
- Participates in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Generates internal financial performance reports and validates data output.
- Identifies and researches routine problems; escalates unresolved transactions/issues.
- Assists with internal and external audit requirements.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement to achieve operational efficiency.
- Processes transactions in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Performs banking functions
