Overview:

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Systems Engineer to join our team at a leading financial healthcare company. This full-time role is fully remote, with preference given to candidates based in South Carolina or North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in AWS Cloud Engineering, with a focus on systems operations, automation, and security in regulated environments. Prior experience in healthcare, HIPAA compliance, and SOC audits is a significant plus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud-based infrastructure, utilizing services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment pipelines using Terraform, AWS CodePipeline, and other relevant tools.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and fault tolerance across AWS environments.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance standards, including SOC audits, penetration testing, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize workloads and ensure scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain scripts in Python for automation and system integration tasks.
  • Administer databases, perform queries, and optimize SQL-based systems.
  • Manage cloud operations using AWS SysOps tools and services.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, policies, and compliance protocols.

Qualifications:
  • 4-6 years of experience in AWS Cloud Engineering, with strong hands-on experience in systems operations.
  • Proficiency in AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, EC2, RDS, and CodePipeline.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python.
  • Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and ability to write and optimize queries.
  • Understanding of compliance standards (HIPAA, SOC), security practices, and penetration testing.
  • Experience in healthcare or financial environments is highly desirable.
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Experience with SOC audit processes and security assessments.
  • Familiarity with penetration testing methodologies.
