NOC Engineer I - Full Time and Hybrid in Charlotte

A growing fiber and telecommunications provider is seeking a NOC Engineer I to join its Network Operations Center team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on networking or telecom experience who enjoys troubleshooting, monitoring live networks, and being on the front line of service reliability.

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor large-scale transport, IP, Ethernet, and voice networks in a 24/7 NOC environment

  • Act as the first point of response for network alerts, service disruptions, and customer-reported issues

  • Triage incidents, open and manage trouble tickets, and provide clear, timely updates to customers and internal teams

  • Prioritize and resolve issues efficiently while knowing when and how to escalate

  • Perform basic system and network administration tasks, including troubleshooting, patching, and light automation

  • Support internal teams as an escalation resource when needed

What We’re Looking For
  • 2+ years of experience in networking, telecom, or related technical support roles

  • Experience working in a service provider or telecommunications environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-impact situations

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset

  • Comfort working with live production systems and shifting priorities

Technical Experience (Preferred)
  • Carrier transport technologies (Metro Ethernet, DWDM, fiber services, T1s, EOC/EFM, ADSL)

  • IP networking fundamentals, DNS, and subnetting

  • Dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP)

  • Voice and telephony technologies (TDM, VoIP, SIP, converged networks)

  • Exposure to networking vendors or certifications (Cisco, Ciena, AdTran, Fortinet, etc.) is a plus

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory
